Al-Ghusl

(Purification
By Bath)
Bath or ablution
of the whole body is fardh or obligatory when an adult has had
sexual intercourse , ommision of semen , noctunal emmision or a
wet dream , and also on becoming a Muslim for the first time .
For women , also on completion of menstruation or haidh and after
child birth or Nifas or the end of the flow of blood . Bath is
Sunnah before the Friday congregational prayer .
Rules and Regulations
of Al-Ghusl .
There are three fardh or absolute
requirements :
- Cleansing the mouth with
water.
- Rinsing the nostril from
within with water.
- Have the water poured over
the entire body without leaving anything un-wetted , not
even the hair.
There are five Sunnah of Ghusl :
- Washing both hands until
wrists with water.
- Going to the toilet if
needed.
- Washing clean the private
parts.
- Performing Wudhu or
abution for Taharah or purification.
- Allowing water to flow
over the entire body three times.
The disliked acts or
Makroohat-al-Ghusl are :
- Wasting of water or use of
too little water leaving the bath doubtful.
- Talking (Singing or
Recitation) in the bathroom unless required and
necessary.
- Facing Ka'aba in Mecca
during the bath and not following the sequence.
Desired
Sequence of the Bath.
- Wash both hands upto
wrists.
- Go to the toilet if
required.
- Wash clean all private
parts.
- Perform wudhu.
- Wash wet all the body
using bits of water and rubbing by hand.
- Pour water three times on
the head , three times on right shoulder , three times on
left shoulder.
- Make sure to cleanse the
mouth by gargling and the nostrils by rinsing from within
or sniffing in the water and blowing out.
