Complete Contents
And The Acts Of The Salaat.
The Following is the sequence of the events and acts of the the Salaat.
Niyyat
: Facing towards the Ka'aba
to the best of your knowledge , say the Niyyat to yourself that
you now intend to offer the salaat ( Fajr , Zuhr , Asr , Maghrib
, Isha , Jumo'ah , Idd etc. ) Fardh , Wajib , Sunnah or Nafl as
the case maybe while standing in a straight line with Jama'at or
congregation , otherwise alone .
Takbir
: With your eyes at the
place of Sajdah or Prostration raise both hands with open palms
facing the Ka'aba upto the lobe of the ears ( But women upto the
shoulders ) and say Takbeer-at-Tahrima that is
Allah-u-Akbar
Allah is the Greatest.
Qiyaam
: Bringing both hands down
placing the right upon the left jsut below the navel and holding
the left wrist by the circle of thumb and the fifth finger while
keeping the three right fingers on left wrist . However a woman
simply places the right hand upon the left on her chest the Thana
(Sana) once :
Subhana kalla humma wa bihamdika wa tabarakasmuka wa ta'ala jadduka wa la ilaha ghairuk
All glory be to thee O Allah! and praise be to thee , Blessed os thy name and exalted Thy Majesty and there is none worthy of worshipbesides thee.
Ta'awuz
: Then say :
A'oozu billahi minash-shaitanirrajeem
I seek refuge in Allah from the rejected and accused Satan or the devil.
Tasmiyah
: Then say :
Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem
I begin in the name of Allah the beneficient , the merciful.
Al-Fatiha
: Now recite :
Al hamdu lillahi rabbil alameen , ar-rahmanir raheem , malikki yaumid deen iyyaka na'budu wa iyyakanaste 'een ihdinas-siratal-mustaqeem , siratal lazeena an'amta 'alaihim ghairil maghdhoobi alaihim wa ladh-dhaleen (Ameen said quietly)
All praise is due to you Allah, lord of the worlds, the beneficient, the merciful, master of the day of judgement.
Thee alone we worship and to thee alone we turn for help.
Guide us in the straight path, the path of those who you have favoured and not who deserve thy anger or went astray AMEEN.
Now
recite the following or any other passage from the holy Qur'an :
Bismaillah ir Rahamaan ir Raheem
Qul ho walla ho ahad
Allah ho samad
Lam yalid Wa Lam Yu Lad
Walam yakulla hu kuffu wan ahad
Allah is one and the only god
Upon whom we all depend
He begets not, nor is he begotten
And there is nothing which can be compared to him.
Ruku
or Ruko'o : While
saying Allah-u-Akbar bow down in an inclined position holding the
knee firmly with the hands the fingers spread and back
straightened or nearly so (but a woman must incline or bow less
without straightening her back and keep her hand fingers united
on knees) and looking on your feet recite 3 or 5 or 7 times the
Tasbih
Subhana rabbiyal Azeem
Glory to my Lord the Great.
Qaumah
: Now rise and while
resuming the standing position recite the Tasmi' once
Sami' allahu liman Hamidah
Allah has heard and listened to all who praise him.
When praying alone or following a leader or Imam, in reply recite the Tahmeed once
Rabbana lakal hamd
Our Lord praise be to Thee.
Sajdah
: Now saying Allah-u-Akbar
prostrate on the ground with your forehead, knees, nose, palms of
both hands touching the ground. now recite the following Tasbeeh
5 or 7 times :
Subhana rabbiyal a'la
Glory to my Lord the most high.
Jalsa
: It is the short sitting
between two Sajdahs for which recite Allaj-u-Akbar. A man sits
with with the left foot lying horizontal and right foot vertical
with the fingers bent forwards. A woman sits resting on her left
calf with both legs coming out on her right side.
Now
say Allah-u-Akbar perform the second Sajdah and repeat the
Tasbeeh, then say Allah-u-Akbar and stand up comleting the first
Raka'ah. The second Raka'ah is a repetition of the first in Qiyam
(except you recite a new Surah after Al-Fatiha), Ruku, Qauman,
Sajdah and the second Jalsa called Qo'dah or long sitting after
the second Raka'ah. Now the following is recited :
Attahiyaat
(Glorification of Allah) :
The following is now recited :
Attahiyao li ilahi was-salwato wattayyibato as salamo alaika ayyohan-nabiyyo wa rahmatullahi wa barakatohu as salamu alaina wa ala ibaadilla-hi-saleheen, Ash hado alla ilalha illal laho wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan abdohu wa rasoolohu
All prayers and worship through words, action and sanctitiy are for Allah only. Peace be upon you, O Prophet! and the mercy of Allah and his blessings. Peace be on us and all the righteous servants of Allah. I bear witness to the fact that there is no diety but Allah and i bear witness that Mohammad is his prophet and messenger.
Durood
Sharif : Recite once
after attahiyaat
Allahumma salle'ala Muhammadin wa'ala aali Muhammadin kama sallayta 'ala Ibraheema wa'ala aali Ibraheema innaka Hameedum Majeed Allahumma baarik 'ala Muhammadin wa'ala aali Muhammadin kama barakta 'ala Ibraheema wa'ala aali Ibraheema innaka Hameedum majeed
O Allah! exhalt Mohammad and his descendants and followers as you did exhalt Abraham and his descendants and followers, verily you are the Praiseworthy, the glorious. O Allah! bless Mohammad and his descendants and followers as you did bless Abraham and his descendants and followers, verily you are the Praiseworthy, the glorious.
Recite
the following after the Durood :
Allahumma inni zalamto nafsee zulman kathe-run wa annahu la yaghfiruz-zunooba illa anta, faghfirli maghfiratam min 'indika war hamni innaka antal ghafoorur raheem
O Allah! I have been extremely unjust to myself and none grants forgiveness against sins but you therefore please grant me forgiveness and have mercy upon me verily you are the Forgiver, the Merciful.
Salaam
: Now turn the face from
the neck to the right side looking over the shoulder (intending
to greet the angels and people in the congregatio) say once
As-Salaamo alaikaum wa rahmatullah
Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah.
Finally turning over the shoulder say once
As-Salaamo alaikaum wa rahmatullah
Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah.
Now the prayer has ended.
